It follows the story of maxwell and Ezekiel, two boys from a small town who forms a friendship with the same goal of to enjoy life to the fullest, to forget about the ever-looming fear of growing up and inescapable responsibilities, just for a while.little do they know that the sanctuary that they've built together would soon be taken away from them in such a way that makes them wonder"is this the punishment that I deserve for believing that I can ever escape this?"
17 years have passed since the tragedy has struck his family. Ezekiel, who is now a photojournalist is on the path of finding the truth about what happen to his parents with the help of his old friend, detective Maxwell.It will be about Ezekiel's journey of trying to remember his forgotten past and repressed memories while rekindling his bond with Maxwell as they go along the way.And as they went deeper into the rabbit hole they realize that there's no way of turning back.

| Imagine how cool it is to have an investigative journalist mom and a private eye dad. Seems like something right out of a procedural drama isn't it? Well that's the reality for a young boy named Ezekiel, and he's living the dream. Not for long though since his parents thinks that the "hustling and bustling" aura of the city can be a bit too much to handle for their small family. Leaving their old life behind and starting a new life in a small town down in the south seems like a perfect option to start anew and hopefully will be healthier for them and especially for little Zeke to grow up in. Little did they know that this fateful decision is unexpectedly turned Zeke's life for the worst. |
| Not long after his parent's unjust and untimely demise, Zeke has been sent to be taken care of by his mother's sister back to Manhattan before being rehabilitated to the Saint Samaria Mental Institution for rehab for almost 2 years. Living in a not-so financially stable household with his aunt, they are determined to get out from that situation and it has been proven fruitful because not only that they have succeeded in regaining a bit of stability into their life, he develops a lot of skills and experience from it too. Though all of that also comes with some disadvantages because he seems to pick up a habit of keeping himself occupied at all times to the point of overworking himself, some might say that it's a form of a coping mechanism. Nowadays he spent most of his days working as a photographer to helping his aunt run her diner business as a cook, he might even pick up freelancing or random odd-jobs if he feels like it. He's currently living alone in a dingy yet oddly comfy apartment downtown. |
| Still though, life still hasn’t been easy for Zeke due to his past no matter how much work or distraction that he tries to get it off his mind. In fact, it has gotten worse now that he begins to have vivid, reoccurring nightmares about that fateful day and it seems that it will not stop until he does something about it. And now he’s trying to recollect his memories in hopes of getting some closure to his seemingly never-ending torment. |

| Being the eldest son of the Police Chief of Mirthstone, Maxwell has always been the golden child of the Reed’s family and he has a lot of expectations that he needs to carry on his shoulder. Whether it is to maintain the family's pristine image, to be a good role model among his peers, and to be the next successor of his father. Surely this much pressure on a at such a young age would not be a problem in the long-run, right? |
| 17 years later, it’s incredible that he can outdone himself even more now that he works as a renowned homicide detective in the big city of New York. But is this what he really wanted for himself? Definitely not. His life path has always been carved for him and he just needs to follow along, even if it means to abandon the things that he wishes to pursue in his youth. He's certainly in a pretty complicated position but that's just how it is, it has always been like this for him. And as much as miserable he is working for the people that he's sworn he would never be, he would be lying if he said that he does not enjoying the things that benefits him especially in the fiscal side of things, the notoriety that he gains for being the best in his department, generally just doing a good deed for the people (if you ignore the things going on behind the scene), and the most important part is his father is proud of what he has achieved. Life has been pretty "tolerable" for him, of course at the expense of his sense of individuality, happiness and dare i say sanity but at the very least he has stability in his life. |
| But ever since his father's passing, while it is hard for the whole family, things has gotten much worse for him to grasp personally. As complicated as his relationship is with his father, they still love each other regardless and he's the reason why he's where he's at now in the first place. The absence of his father has gotten him spiraling into a mess of to contemplate about a lot of things in his life and even questioning himself if there's ever gonna be a "certain future" for him. But now that he can finally continue it on his own merit, he feel like it is the perfect time to slowly break the curse, quit the force and work as a private eye. It strikes a perfect balance of still continuing on with what his father would've "wanted" and doing it in his own way. Still though, he yearns to someday go back to pursue the things that he truly wanted, if only that his burden and self sabotaging nature would just go away. |
